Costa Titch, originally known as Costa Tsobanoglou, born and raised in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, South Africa is a super-talented south african rapper, songwriter and dancer.
Costa Titch got into the entertainment scene as a dancer at an early age, where he joined the New Age Steez dance crew with Phantom Steez and Tumi Tladi as its member. He switched into rap and got his breakthrough after the release of his hit single “Activate” with Phantom Steeze, Alfa Kat Laygo in 2017, and has since worked with the likes Casper Nyovesrt, Akon, Ycee and so on.
The once dancer has created his own style of music as he is said to be the pioneer of African Trap Music and so influenced other artists in the genre. His rap beat is traditionally trap with very high-energy drum samples. His light at heart raps are tailored for the dance floor.
Unfortunately, Costa Titch 28 lost his life performing live at the Music Festival Johannesburg. The tragedy has shaken up the South African music community. The motive of death has not yet been determined. His death follows that of fellow artist AKA, who died after being shot on February 10th in Durban. His family confirmed his death on his instagram page by releasing a statement:
He won the best collaboration and best remix at the 2020 South African Hip Hop Awards for his song “Nkalakatha,” featuring Riky Rick and Kiernan “AKA”. He also won the Sound City MVP award in Nigeria.
