Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips was announced to be dead by his management on Wednesday, 15 November, 2023. It was stated that the rapper passed away around 10pm on 14th of November, 2023 via his Instagram page.

The young rapper and singer who was 28 years old was said to have been battling an unstated ailment for the past two years.

Ola Dips last released track was titled “Die Young” where he talked about competing with people when they are alive and then turning around to celebrate them when they’re gone.

People compete with the living and care for the dead. World people. They will watch you beg for the bread when you make it, or you die when they care for a friend. Bandwagon, everybody jumps on the trend

That was my friend; he was a cool guy. One of the best talents. He was a good guy. Let me post his picture on my story and my page so the world can see my agony and my pain.’ Reality check: this is everyone’s reality. This song is the truth and for clarity… What is the point of showing love to a good person when they aren’t with us?

It’s painful to hear another good rapper and singer being announced dead barely 3 months after Mohbad’s demise. But we’ll use this period to remember him and remind y’all of the great tracks he’s been able to work on.

I started listening to Oladips in 2015 when he featured on a song with Ajanaku and Zlatan (yeah, before Zlatan became known) titled “Satiramoni“. Oladips also participated and won ‘King is Here’ rap contest organized by D’banj that same year. This further launched him into the Nigerian music industry, earning applause and cheers from various music icons and lots of fans in that same period

Oladips was also almost signed to Olamide YBNL record label before getting a deal to Reminisce Edge Record (LRR) in 2016. Olamide during this period explained why he couldn’t sign Oladips stating he and Chinko Ekun had the same rap style and he couldn’t sign both at the same timeline.

Oladips was clearly going through a lot during the last few years as his management said on his IG story when his death was announced. He himself said on a song he was featured on “Trenches boy” by Olatop Ekula
