Deep Water is a 2022 erotic psychological thriller film directed by Adrian Lyne, from a screenplay by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson, based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith. The film stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, with Tracy Letts, Lil Rel Howery, Dash Mihok, Finn Wittrock, Kristen Connolly, and Jacob Elordi appearing in supporting roles.
Deep Water is a film where a young couple Melinda (Ana de Armas) and Vic Van Allen (Ben Affleck) live with their young daughter Trixie in Little Wesley, Louisiana. Vic has retired early after developing guidance chips for combat drones, and his complicated relationship with Melinda is feels like an open relationship as Melinda openly takes lovers, even in their family home, while Vic finds solace in raising his large collection of snails. This is a weird arrangement as Vic grows increasingly jealous, while Melinda laments his lack of passion.
They are both psychopaths, as at some point, it felt like they were playing games with each other. He would definitely be furious of the situation but would keep calm which is crazy and scary. She would be openly attached to her lovers and sad whenever they disappear even in the presences of their friends and neighbors as she once openly accused him of killing one of her lovers whom she invited to a neighbors party, where he was found dead in the pool.
It sometime looked like a thing of who would provoke the other into filling for a divorce as she is of the thought that he has no emotion for her and doesn’t love her. But he actually loves too much that he shows it by smartly murdering her lovers.
He became totally obsessed and angry as she present to him her ex-boyfriend and overheard her talking about going to Brazil with him. But got to know she was just sad and seek love from other men as it seem he doesn’t love her. Their relationship began to seem repaired and good but things had gotten out of hand already.
She found out about his habit, so does a neighbour who has been accusing him of murder and poking around to prove he was right.

Deep Water is a wonderful movie and reminds me of the tv series YOU. The story line is wonderful, Ana de Armas is a wonderful actres, her character is the highlights of the film. Ben Affleck performance is amazing, he portrayed the calm Vic who shows no emotion and I love his threats.
I definitely recommend it to all movie lover. It’s a wonderful movie to binge with friends and have a wonderful talk session after.
