Lance Reddick a Baltimore native, is an American actor and musician, known for his versatile roles in television and film. He was born on December 31, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
He made his television debut in an episode of New York Undercover (1994). Though he played a couple of drug addicts early on, he soon found himself much in demand– and ultimately typecast — as powerful authority figures, from police detectives (Johnny Basil in Oz (1997)) to FBI agents (Law & Order (1990)) to senior defense attorneys (Cedric Daniels in The Wire (2002)).
One of his best known roles on the big screen was as the mysterious Mr. Charon, concierge at the Continental Hotel, scene of much of the action in the John Wick (2014) franchise.
He has also had prominent roles on other popular television shows such as “Fringe,” “Lost,” and “Bosch.” In addition to his television work, Reddick has appeared in several major films including “White House Down,” and “The Guest.”
Reddick is also a talented musician, having trained as a classical vocalist and pianist at the Eastman School of Music. He has released two albums, “Contemplations & Remembrances” and “Music For The Written Word.”
In terms of his personal life, Reddick has been married to Stephanie Diane Day since 2011, but was initially married to Suzanne Yvonne Louis whom he had two children with a daughter (Yvonne Nicole) and a son (Christopher). He is also a passionate advocate for social justice and civil rights.
Lance Reddick was found dead at his home in Studio City, California on March 17, 2023. Though the 60-year-old was initially thought to have died from natural causes, his recently released death certificate lists ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease as causes of death.
